Cathy Gazda, Artist - Home Page

April 25, 2012:   This single-stemmed,
single-flowered White Bearded Iris
called out to me today.

A different variety from the one I painted in
March, it was impossible to ignore this beauty.

Not content to run with the pack, it stood out
– tall and proud - in the middle of a brilliantly
pink Orchid Rockrose bush.

I'd already begun painting the Iris, when I
noticed that the Rockrose flower closest to
the Iris (unlike every other flower on the bush)
was also completely white! That has never
happened before.

I had to smile at these radiant rebel buddies,
boldly and peacefully holding their space in
a sea of pink. And, while only the Iris gets
the glory today, the message brought by this
"captivating couple" was clear: "Free To Be".

Yes, indeed!
